Research into Female DJ's

From previous research into female DJ's we know that there are very few female DJ's who have hit the mainstream in the music industry. After researching some more I came across a few sites that have listed some of the top female DJs in their eyes, which could be useful for drawing influences from for our website, album cover and promo shots.

This website lists their top female DJs from around the world. Most of the artists have DJ before their name, which in some ways makes them sound slightly more amateur than what we want. Most of the promotional photos also feature the girls dressed provocatively, which is what we have wanted to avoid from the start.

This website is almost like a hub for female DJs around the globe and it allows you to source them out for events you wish to host, etc. They also regularly interview different artists and post news on their activity for fans. But they have also created a separate brand out of this, using their pun on words of 'SHEJAY' to promote female power and they sell t-shirts and other merchandise to profit from this.

Not featured on this website, yet the biggest female dj in the UK right now is Annie Mac. She hosts a radio show on national BBC Radio 1 and is loved by both males and females. As our target audience are both young males and females, Annie is a great inspiration to our artist planning. Like Annie, we want Absynth to be:
